To say that the past few months have kept me busy is an understatement! Several months ago, I agreed to organize the Women In Motorcycling Exhibit for the Spring Motorcycle Show which was held the weekend of Saturday, April 7 and Sunday, April 8.
The intent of the exhibit was to inspire women visiting the show to either move from the back to the front seat or to start riding for the first time. This was to be accomplished by having inspirational women share stories of why they started to ride, the adventures that they had and why they continue to ride.
I was most fortunate to have connected with 5 lovely women who were willing to share incredible and inspirational tales and as a result, the amount of time and effort that I put into this exhibit was more than worth it.
In addition to having the good fortune to organize this exhibit, I had my own booth to prepare as I was promoting my inspirational speaking services.
I also used this as an opportunity to share my message – “WHY DISCOURAGE WHEN YOU CAN ENCOURAGE”, which was printed on t-shirts and patches which I had for sale.
On top of this, I had 3 speaking engagements during the show in which I shared my story. My hope was to leave listeners with an understanding of how words and actions could negatively or positively impact another person in addition to the importance of not judging people based on their appearance.
I am currently editing video footage and hope to have something posted in the next few weeks.
As we travel through the journey of life, chances are that we will be faced with several obstacles. When presented with these, it is important to have friends and family that you can turn to for support and encouragement.
I must say that becoming a part of the motorcycle community has increased the family that I can turn to and has allowed my story to come full circle.
Now that the show is behind me, I will start to blog more regularly and invite you to share your comments as frequently as you like.
Until next time,
why discourage when you can encourage?
